In the Historic Center of Cuenca, the traditional Corpus Christi Festival is celebrated mixing religion, gastronomy, culture, and popular arts.

Corpus Christi is a traditional festival in the city of Cuenca that dates from approximately 1557 and is considered one of the largest and most important festivals in Ecuador. This celebration is characterized by combining religion, culture, and gastronomy, which offers a wide variety of sweets with different flavors, shapes, and colors that delight the palate of locals and strangers from the region.

This event takes place every year at the end of May and the beginning of June for 7 days; mainly it is a religious festival in honor of the "Blessed Sacrament or Body of Christ" all this is accompanied by a procession, mass, songs, and other related activities.

In this event dances and popular dances are presented; these dances are accompanied by music from local bands. It also gives rise to fireworks such as the burning of the famous "castillos", "la vaca loca", "los sonadores" and the launching of thousands of balloons. All these shows are admired by thousands of families and tourists who come to this magnificent celebration every year to enjoy this warm and colorful party.
